That certainly did not go as planned, Billy-Jimbo.

Vancouver in the summuh is so very, very nice.

Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver. Again.

Me thinks it's high time we had some outfit posts over here.

(You know when you're unemployed, working seems like the only thing other people do? Yeah, you know that feeling? And you think that every other Joe Schmoe must have the most interesting, rewarding, best-paying job in the world and everyone you pass is happily heading to or from their place of employment and you try to guess what kind of amazingly fantastic place it is and you know you will never end up in someplace cool like that and you even get bitter when your boyfriend has to stop watching Big Love with you so he can go to his stupid inventory shift from 8-10:30 but secretly you would love nothing more than to do exactly that? So glad y'all feel me on this.

Why don't we just stop and the whine-shop and we'll leave you there.

Today was a hot day.
I showered, put my hair up. Then I decided to wear a vintage dress that requires a SLIP - ANOTHER layer of fabric on my skin(!!) and walked my sweaty self around the hot, hot city, printed CVs and proceeded to sweat even more while undertaking the nerve-wracking task of handing out those very CVs. With sweaty hands.

Taken in cooler days...

I made Kool-aid slushies today and that helped. Grape flavour. I have more in the freezer if you want to come over.

I hope none of us here are those crazy people who think/hope Autumn is closing in - and if you are, you are certainly crazy and you need to stop that nonsense this minute. It was mildly nice, though, to look at black tights and boots through tha kump-yooter screen.

Feeling out of sorts lately... I've never had an "existential crisis" before. What am I doing; what do I want; where am I going; how will I get there; what reason do I have to ever get off this couch?

I'm looking for employment - yipee.

Do you remember the name of that la dee doooo song?

Photos are in the loo today!

These are from a few weeks back, en fait. Right before I went to work. I remember that being a great day. After my shift Garth & Cyril picked me up and we smuggled copious amounts of snack food from IGA into the cinema and watched Avatar. And I wished so hard that we had glowing plants.

AA trousers, belt & bodysuit, thrifted Etienne Aigner wedges, thrifted bracelet, watch was a gift from my Granny.

This mid-blink shot had to be included because of this:

Cyril: you look like such a thug. "yeah, I got a lot of shampoo, AND WHAT?"

Now, to continue my French readings where I dozed off last night on the couch... Le grand débat sur l'identité nationale! FREN 334 final = 8:30 AM tomorrow. Ugh, really?

Hello Mr Fox.

The blogging world is such a cozy little spot to be. Especially when you can run into and draw inspiration from beautiful spaces like: Hello Mr Fox.

The foxy lady herself, Hannah, always looking so comfy and adorable.

Always churning out gorgeously detailed photos with such a warm feel.

Hannah just announced she will be opening a shop in the near future! And when the girl consistently finds beautiful things like these... enough said. I am so excited.

(These pieces are from all around Hello Mr Fox, not necessarily from her shop.)

Sigh, so romantic!

I don't think I have said anything about it yet, but I got a job in fashion! It's probably not what you would think I mean by "in fashion" but it's a start and an in and I really enjoy it so far.

Otherwise, Switzerland/Austria photos are still patiently awaiting treatment in my computer - well not too patiently. As are, embarrassingly, far too many others. So now that the dreaded Wednesday is over, I have more time to spend being creative/productive in my own little space!

Facts are facts, Frank.

Yes, that umbrella is a 100+ year old artifact. No, I should not be nonchalantly swinging it over my shoulder. Yes, I should be wearing conservator's gloves.

Thrifted sweater, heels & necklaces, UP jeans.

Assuming this whole potential job turns out as badly as I know it will, I am once again in search of employment. The day after my interview and a week before my "trial shift" I was back in the streets droppin' resumes to the familiar tune of we're not hiring right now.

On the up-side of life, our little apartment is nearing decoration completion!
I've got three words for it, and they're all the same: cute.

Jogging along the ocean? I think I might. Because I CAN.

Fall

(Via Stylesightings)

Summer

Fall: basically, I want to copy this from head to toe.
Missing? Slouchy sweater thin enough to fit under my blazer, carrot pants, sweet-ass granny boots.

Summer: the epitome of today. Warm & happy, spent at the beach with my beau. The way life should me.

H&M top, Target skirt, thrifted belt & heels, gifted earrings & watch.

PS I have an interview at Mintage on Tuesday! Wish me luck.

He gave me some ol' fashioned text book lovin'.

Double the pleasure, double the fun!
I am doubling your What I Wore Today eye-candy quota for the day because I am such a horrid blogger.

But guys, I'm packing! Packing. For Vancouver. In three days. Three. Days.

All thrifted.

Old navy top, Grandpa's old belt, thrifted and altered shorts, H&M shades, mystery-origin sandals and my necklace made by Caroline!

And now I sleep.
Last 2 days of work... !!

Sweet Caroline, BA BA BA.

Granny's old blouse, Garage jeans, thrifted heels & necklace, watch from my Granny too.

I ventured into boyfriend-jean-territory a few days ago. Though I still need lessons on how to appropriately roll my jeans up to look effortlessly messy, I felt totally chic in this outfit. Heels to work, finally.

Well dudes & dudettes, I just finished a 12-hour work day, so I'm out.

He rolled over and that was that.

Worst. Blogger. Ever.

Here's my excuse:
I have literally stopped trying to look nice for work.
I literally never look nice anymore because I literally work SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.
Isn't this a sad world? Ideally, I should have a load of cash to console me, but even that isn't working so well. Yet.

So, from happier times, an outfit that I wore on a day off (which is in fact a lie, because not 5 minutes after I took this, I went to photograph something for the newspaper) :

All but earrings (present from Mum) are thrifted.

Dear dearest Dad.

Happy Father's Day, Dad.

My favorite picture of him.
At his high school graduation.

Lydia and I have to sneak in a lunch-hour (lunch-30-minutes, rather) charity shop run tomorrow because it's only open until 3. And closed on weekends. This town really is filled with the elderly. Lydia is my Summer co-worker at the museum and I think I lucked out! Um, by quite a lot.

Now, back to writing cut-lines. For my other job. Soon to be other other job. Good thing I enjoy money quite substantially.

This devotion is devoid and defunked.

Why. Why. Why can't every day be a vacation?

The thing they don't tell you about studying at UBC Vancouver is: you miss the best part of the year. Summer in Vancouver. Maybe I was just in such fantastic company that anywhere would have done. I like to think not. And I like to think that I'm definitely spending next Summer in Vancouver. Osoyoos is gorgeous and hot and dryyy... but, sigh.

On Erin: hat from a thrift store in North Vancouver.
On Cyril: shades that were my Dad's.

Helloooo Swiss men.

On Olivier: should he read this blog and like to share the origins of his beautiful striped shirt, well... I just might have to go buy one for Cyril.

Perfect accessory: cupcake.

On Erin: thrifted & altered dress, thrifted belt, long necklace is thrifted and other necklace was made by Caroline!

Somebody come visit me at the Osoyoos Museum, please. Please? I can give you a tour. We can go for ice cream after. Or I can make you some cake. Or cookies. Or dinner. And we can go to the beach. Or on my boat. Yeah...

Let the love shine on! And on. And on. Aaaand on.

Officially back to blogging RIGHT NOW.
I could give many (legitimate!) excuses as to why I've been absent, but the bottom line is:
"Honey, I'm home!"

First order of business: my sister's birthday outfit. Rather, the outfit I wore to my sister's birthday. Which happened to be, sadly, exactly one month ago. I am such a bad blogger.

Thrifted & altered dress, necklace a gift from Cyril's mum, shoes are out of my mum's closet.

Today(all day) at work I researched the life of one of the founding families of my town. I have never cross-referenced so much in my life.

K-A-T-E Kate.

Though I shouldn't be, I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself these days. So, in an attempt to cheer myself up, a list of Why I Should Be Happy:

1. I got my museum job!
2. Cyril is coming back on Thursday!
3. The weather is gorgeous!
4. My sister is visiting!
5. I am babysitting a Canon Rebel for the weekend and I have officially fallen in love! Sorry Cyril.
6. This poor, baby deer is so cute!
"Dear Deer" by Kate Micucci (she played Stephanie Gooch on Scrubs)
Thanks to my brother for the introduction.

Cyril and I having fun at the laundromat.

I can't get no, I can't get no, I can't get no JOB.

Job: I really thought I had it with that last one, people. But due to some technical difficulties on their part, I was just advised "to find another job". On the bright side, because she put it quite like that, I like to think: were they not experiencing technical difficulties, I would be hired!

So, whatevz, y'all.
I shall give you some gloomy pictures now.

At our Mother's Day dinner last night in America at our (second) favorite Mexican restaurant, after ordering beer I thought "oh no! Am I old enough for this sort of thing here? Oh yes, I am in the clear" and then I liked it because I won't be able to have those moments of am-I-old-enough for anything one of these days. And it makes me feel like a fresh little baby.
