Dry lips means you have eaten too many chips.

Although Halloween is officially over - I know because I have a giant box of 95 mini chocolate bars (that number is now significantly diminished) totaling 1.1 kg sitting beside me that I scored in the sale only post-Halloween can bring you - here are sum pikchas from a pumpkin carving party, nay, contest, I went to a few weeks ago in the Qube.

Karen. Mwah. Ambitious pumpkin design, girlfriend.

The pumpkin I "carved". I didn't hollow it out so that it would stay fresh and I can eat it. Nom.

I'm kind of really in love with this skirt but it seems to "fancy" for everyday. It's silk. Grey & mustard striped and long and flowey and makes me feel like a real lady if that's okay to say. Maybe if I just start wearing more real lady skirts this one wouldn't feel like dress up. If only I hadn't hemmed every skirt I've ever owned... I should have listened to my mother when she told me longer hemlines would come back in style. Mothers of 18 year old girls are often, unwisely, not headed, however. But naw, I still like my short skirts too!

There are chips on sale at Super Valu for $1.66 a bag (and that's just crazy) and C & I thought it ended today so he asked me to go stock up after work and when I got there I realised that the sale is on until Januaaaary and then I saw that they had hot dog flavoured chips and I really want to get those now. After the crazy success of Doritos cheeseburger chips.

Certainly, this is no time for fooling things.

When Sister & I took a walk in between rainy periods in Pacific Spirit Provincial Park near UBC recently. It's so refreshing & gratifying to suddenly realise how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city. I attend university amid a rain forest plunging into the Pacific Ocean...

I have an image/feeling of Vancouver/the West Coast that I suppose stems from trips here as a kid; it is so faint & fleeting that I can only hold onto it for a matter of seconds and can't even conjure at will. But it reminds me of what drew me here four years ago. Now I can't imagine not living here. (At least for the time being...)

Now, Advanced French Composition homework & banana pear muffins in Cyril's pyjama pants.

Let it sing, brother. Let it sing.

Hello Vancouver, nice to see your true colours again. I have possibly, minimally missed them. Then again, is not rain, jazz trumpet and homemade sweet, milky chai tea the love triangle of the century? Soon joining the menage-a-trois is a handmade salmon burger for lunch. Yes, Vancouver, you're alright.

If I were even thinking of stepping outside my one-bedroom apartment today, I might like to shimmy down the street in something resembling this:

But I think Etsy item descriptions are calling my name for the day. And maybe so is Louis Riel, A Comic-Book Biography. I should confess my graphic novel love soon - in a world-wide broadcast.

I hope none of us here are those crazy people who think/hope Autumn is closing in - and if you are, you are certainly crazy and you need to stop that nonsense this minute. It was mildly nice, though, to look at black tights and boots through tha kump-yooter screen.

Feeling out of sorts lately... I've never had an "existential crisis" before. What am I doing; what do I want; where am I going; how will I get there; what reason do I have to ever get off this couch?

I'm looking for employment - yipee.

Fuzz can be hard to deal with. I don't mean the police.

I do realise that Thanksgiving was two weeks ago.
Call me tardy. Call me lazy. Call me BUSY WITH MIDTERMS THANK YOU.

Anyway, two weeks ago, I visited my family for Thanksgiving.

It had froze the night before I arrived, and to save the pipes from bursting, the orchardists had to leave their irrigation on, resulting in: magic.

In true English style, fried garden tomatoes for breakfast.
And my brother's pumpkin pie; lovingly made from scratch. (We didn't have it for breakfast. At least I didn't)

I miss them. Only two months to Christmas, I suppose.

(My hair is in pin-curls, tucked under my Granny's scarf, waiting to be slept on. I'm really excited to see how they will turn out! Show-and-tell, not to worry.)

Sleep on a sea of predicament

I'm currently being whipped, big time, by school.

I've hardly noticed October waltz by, my favorite month of the year, and I'm afraid that with fast-approaching November will come: Winter. And then we will have rain and snow and sludge and cold and gloom until April.

I'm freaking.
There's nothing I can do about it; school has a steady Erin-whipping schedule until AU MOINS October 30. And I'm not even whipping school back.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in over my head. 3 Lit courses at once was a bad, bad, bad, BAAAD idea.

She carried me home through wind and snow.

Fall

(Via Stylesightings)

Summer

Fall: basically, I want to copy this from head to toe.
Missing? Slouchy sweater thin enough to fit under my blazer, carrot pants, sweet-ass granny boots.

Summer: the epitome of today. Warm & happy, spent at the beach with my beau. The way life should me.

H&M top, Target skirt, thrifted belt & heels, gifted earrings & watch.

PS I have an interview at Mintage on Tuesday! Wish me luck.

Nacho cheese with my nachos please.

FIRST OF ALL:
I am of the strong opinion that if more men wore shorts like this gentleman here - specifically the length people - the world would be a better(sexier) place to live in. Hear hear!

Via Face Hunter

Ricki's altered blazer, thrifted shirt, Tati jeans, UO purse, thrifted shoes.

I wore this a few weeks ago when it was dreary. Is it terrible that I'm excited for fall so I can wear outfits like this on a daily basis rather than the three days in four months that I get to wear them now? Yes, it really is. Work needs to cease so uniforms and office-appropriate clothing may also cease. Office-appropriate clothing, PAH. GIVE ME MINI SKIRTS! Plz & thx.

Can we prance upon wisps of cloud?

Sum pikchurs jus fur funners.

Getting tipsy off this here appletini.

How JD would be proud.

What I've been wearing lately:

Coat: Zara, trousers: Rietmans, shoes: Wal Mart, scarf: vintage shop in Paris, bag: my trusty ol' purse.

Coat: Zara, skirt: thrifted, tights & shoes: H&M, gloves: permanently borrowed from Cyril's mum, earrings: thrifted.

Cyril's first fashion appearance!
Coat: Topman, jeans: H&M, shoes: Converse, scarf: tourist shop in Paris.

I liked the fact that I was rocking socks on top of tights for once. I quite enjoy the warmth socks with skirts can provide and I quite enjoy looking at the trend on gals with skinny legs, but I'm afraid this idea is usually a no-go for my cankles and I. Not this time!

I liked it so much I wore it the next day to the beach.
Cardi: H&M men, shirt: Stodola Family Reunion 1987 (at which I was present as a little'un) skirt: Le Chateau, belt: thrifted, scarf: random vendor on the streets of Paris, tights & shoes: H&M.

Cardi: H&M, shirt: UNIQLO, jeans: Mango, shoes: Tati, scarf: thrifted in Switzerland, belt: thrifted.

Sweater: thrifted, skirt: H&M, shoes: were my mum's, scarf: tourist shop in Paris.

And we always told them we had nothing to declare all those times coming back from Paris. Get a grip on reality, guys: nobody comes back to Switzerland from Paris without buying anything.

Something that made me really happy yesterday: I walked past a girl from my first year ArtsOne program who is really... unique. She seems slightly challenged in some way, but she was just always sitting across the room with this serene grin on her face and would always raise her hand tentatively to answer a question only to ramble on and sometimes giggle and go really loud at some points. So that's this girl. The thing that made me really happy was seeing her walking with a boy who looks absolutely perfect for her. Both pale, long faces, gangly, dorky in a sweet way, possibly a bit socially challenged. It was adorable.

Plus then I saw 3 other people from that class that I've never seen before on campus that day. Strange. It's like they had a meeting and didn't invite me...

If those guys don't want me, I'll do my own thing.

Some things I've been wearing lately.

Cardigan: H&M, shirt: Old Navy, skirt: thrifted, shoes: thrifted Etienne Aigner, scarf: tourist shop in Paris.

I want to start wearing more heels. I'm a fan of these here; hello stay-on-my-feet-cute-comfort. I will be looking more more stay-on-my-feet variety. And I mean this as opposed to my other one pair of heels that like to come off the back of my foot and make me stumble around on the street trying to put my foot back in it. Real, real classy.

Cardigan: H&M mens, shirt: Suzy Shier, skirt: thrifted, shoes: Wal Mart (what?), necklace: gift.

These were going to be Cyril's new glasses until we found out they were "decoration only".

Shirt: Urban Outfitters, necklace: thrifted.

Shirt: thrifted, vest: H&M, pants: Tati, shoes: H&M, necklace: gift.

A sick, procrastination day seems good as any to start a new blog. Sick as in beginning of a darling cold, procrastination as in I have a French grammar midterm tomorrow and I don't even know where to look where to begin where to start studying. I've been studying French for a long time, but this stuff just doesn't compute in my mind.

I'm going home this weekend, where there is a sewing machine! It'll be me, my mum's Baby Lock and a pile of transformations waiting to happen.

And let's not forget Pumpkin Pie. HELLO.
There are just reasons upon reasons why Autumn is the best season of all. I love it love it love it. It's crisp, cosy, snuggly, cute; it makes me want to make soup and pie and tea. I wish it lasted longer. And didn't give way to the eternity of Winter.
