My new shirt is already twice over dirty.

Our super lovely landlord gave me all this amazing thread the other day.
I was on my way to the sewing store to get some thread and she said "what colour do you need?" "navy blue" "let me go see if i have any... here, you can have these, I won't use them".
!!!
Besides being a giant bag of thread, the spools are all really neat, wooden and old. Some of them are odd, yet totally gorgeous colours as well.
Hooray for free stuff.

Hi Guys.

Wednesday 22 April 2009

Drinking fizzy water with lime from a Mason jar, just like I likes it.

VanDusen Botanical Garden in Springtime!

Cyril trying to kick me in the face. Jk y'all.

Rhododendrons

Magnolias

Cardi: H&M Men, dress: thrifted, hat: Cyril's attic in Bern, necklace: gift from parents, bag: thrifted, shoes: H&M (the ones I mentioned in this post)

I'm totally diggin' hats right now. I've got this one and a straw one with a loepard ribbon on it lined up. Oh, I've also got a floppy beach one waiting for me at home.
Do you have a favorite hat?

Sunday 19 April 2009

Show me da money.

PS I waaaaaant.
Me 'ol H&M flats are about to bite the bullet and these seem like a very worthy replacement.

My Hall of Shame.

You know what?
These things have a bad rep and I always get this
omg-I-am-such-a-total-loser-and-this-is-so-totally-lame feeling
when I bust one of these out. But.
You know what else?
I love 'em anyway! (In a I'm-still-so-totally-lame self-conscious voice)
Plus my fake-real-excuse is going to be that now that I've finally finished my last paper of the year, I must start studying like a madperson for my first exam tomorrow and I'm procrastinating.

Rules:1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.

2. Tag eight other un-tagged people. Here it goes...

What is your current obsession?
Trying to wear dresses without tights even though it's mostly too cold.

What is your weirdest obsession?
Pyjamas. Finding the right combination of long-sleeved tops and short bottoms that still looks cute.

What are you wearing today?
Jeans and my new/old t-shirt from Cyril's side of the closet.

What would you like to learn to do?
Cook/bake superfantastically. And sew superfantastically.

What are the last things you bought?
Technically, rent.

What are you listening to right now?
Nothing. Great, now I'm even more lame!

What is your favorite weather?
Haaaaard. Considering the catch phrase to my blog is "the weather changes everything". It does change everything.
I love: dark, dark clouds in the summer when it's hot, really silent snow, fog, and when it's sunny but there are a few of those imposing, dark clouds hanging around. Plain 'ol sunny is good too!

What is on your bedside table?
2 jewelry boxes, candles, a picture, a plant, a lamp, a book (Russel Brand's My Booky Wook), hand cream, essential oils, my watch and the remote for my stereo.

What is your most challenging goal right now?
Getting 2 good jobs for the summer.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
Come on! You know very well I wasn't tagged. Stop mocking me.

Where would you like to be?
In Bern in the Marzili with Jacques and Vanessa.

Who is your favorite designer?
I don't think I have one.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
My Bachelor of Arts degree. Or a stack of money, ha.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Haaaard. Considering I am a child of the world! Maybe, Stockholm, even though I've never been. Or maybe Lausanne. Or London or Paris but that's pretty cliche. Or here would be nice too, no more rent!

Which language do you want to learn?
I'd like to finally be fluent in French, rather than just getting by.

What's your favorite colour?
Green?

What is your dream job?
Travelling photographer/vintage merchant/millionaire.

What are your plans for this summer?
Working myself to the bone and sometimes hangin' at the beach in our 40+ degree weather.

What is your favorite magazine?
LouLou. I can't afford those fancy-pants ones.

Who is your style-icon?
Zooey Deschanel? Mostly fashion blogs though.

Favourite movie:
The Royal Tenenbaums.

How can you not love her? So gorgeous/cute/talented.

Oooh, PS I swiped this thing from a new blog, called Flashes of Style, which I stumbled upon today and I like what I see!

Saturday 11 April 2009

Only if you're a little bit, a little bit, a little bit in la-la-la-la-love with me.

I like this post. And I like this day. I'm happy to the point of giddiness, with no real "reason" and I love it. Haha.
I like this day even though our lovely (and I do mean lovely, they're so sweet and funny and helpful) landlords made us rush out of our house for a viewing 5 minutes after we got out of bed. They invited us over for tea and tropical fruits!
I like this day even though it's cold and rainy out.
I like this day even though I have a big paper looming over my head that I know I need to get well into today (but I'm not thinking about that until after lunch!)
I like this day because after I drag myself out of bed, I am such a morning person. And it drives Cyril crazy because I can get so hyper while he's grumping around the house. And I think it's hilarious.
I like this day because in a few minutes I'm going to make Huevos Rancheros!

And I extra love this post because it's filled with such nice things!

First, let's meet Amy! Hi Amy.
After weeks and weeks of "oh, how about next week? oh darn, I can't, how about the next week or the next week?" from both of us, we finally got to meet up. And she is so cute and fun to talk to, I'm glad we found the time to meet.
Then on Wednesday night we went to Friendly Fires together!

Amy and Dorian.
See, totally cute, right?

If AA wants to give Amy and/or I some money and/or free clothes, we will gladly go to Vancouver concerts and rock them together. I haven't cleared this with Amy yet, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

Nice shot of the back of the singer's head. Herman Dune's bongo player booty-shake dance, and now this guy's wicked dance moves? I likey. Very much.

Cyril and I went to Queen Elizabeth Park the other day and laid in the grass, soaking up the sun and listening to tunes on his iPod touch.

View from the ground.

My favorite flowers in the world.

Another What He Wore Today installment right hurr.

Cardi: AA, shirt & jeans: H&M, shoes: thrifted, shades: used to be my Dad's.

Bare legzzz!

Cardi, dress, shoes & belt: thrifted, shades: I don't remember but I have a feeling it might have been Winner's, bag: UO.

I love cherry blossoms in Vancouver.
Peace out, I'm making lunch!

Has anyone seen "Heavenly Creatures" and want to help me write a paper on it?

Just a wee update from me before I sign off for the night, guiiilty because I haven't laid a brain cell on my Film Studies paper OR German grammar yet and they are both up on Tuesday. Gosh.

I thought I should stop torturing you with that nasty teaser I left for you on my last post. Anyway, the bangin' outfit is this:

Bodysuit (which come with a little anecdote, but that's for another day!), skirt, belt & gold necklaces: thrifted, white necklace: a Caroline original!, tights: H&M.

C'est bangin', non?

Even more bangin': the Great Lake Swimmers concert a few weeks ago. For realz, aaamazing. I really, really enjoyed it.

There's a surprise coming up in the next post. Yeah, that's right. I did it. Left you hanging once again!

Monday 6 April 2009

You asked me to stop, but I kept calling you captain.

The last few days. HAVE BEEN SUNNY!

Inspired by the lovely & witty Siri, of Ringo, have a banana!, I thought I should showcase my go-to skirt. Like her security blanket dress, this skirt fit like a glove from the thrift store and it goes with everything. I mean, ps, it is a white skirt, but come on. Give me some credit plz; I have never worn the same outfit to school twice since I started in September! That's right. Woredrobe remix MASTER. (And owner of an over-stuffed closet. But mostly remix master. Well, and a lot of clothes. But mostly master.)

I have previously worn it here, here and here.

Skirt, skiier cardi, belt & shoes: thrifted, tights: Wal Mart, yellow shirt: Mango, brown tank: H&M, headband: rediscovered in a drawer in my parents' house.

Special Guest Appearance! Cyril!

Jacket & shoes: thrifted, jeans: H&M, shirt: AA, bag: H&M, shades: used to be my dad's.

Blazer: sister's, sweater: Primark, skirt & belt: thrited, tights, shoes & shades: H&M, scarf: made by Caroline (honestly, is that girl amazing, or what?!), bag: Urban Outfitters, necklaces: gift & thrifted.

It takes ages longer to write out my outfit specs than Cyril's. Funny how that happens.

Time to hit the sack. Hay. Bed.
I'll be back atcha soon, 'cause my outfit today was bangin'.
